Discover New England – 2007

Discover New England is the official regional marketing organization whose mission is to increase domestic and international travel and tourism thereby strengthen the economic vitality of New England.

Recently we had an annually Discover New England Summit that ran from March 26 – 28, 2007 at Vermont. This kind of event gives the six states of New England an opportunity to promote their destinations to visitors from around the world.

While at the Summit I was able to have a one-on-one with the following International Tour Operators and Receptive Operators. Below is a list of their traits, target market and requirements.

Traits of International Travelers:

  • International Travelers spend more time traveling than the Domestic travelers

  • They spend 10 times more that the local travelers

  • International Travelers are not weather dependant

  • They have more vacation time

Markets to Target:

  • United Kingdom

  • Germany

  • Ireland

  • France

  • Japan is a new entrant in the International market.
